Ventura City Fire Department units responded to a reported structure fire in a multiple story, multiple unit residential hotel in downtown Ventura. Upon arrival of first arriving units, one unit on the third floor had a small fire that was out. Firefighters utilized sophisticated thermal imaging equipment to confirm extinguishment and ensure that no hidden embers/heat remained and ventilated smoke from the unit. Early detection and notification to 911 was essential in this incident due to the large number of occupants and the numerous challenges that would have been encountered had the fire grown.
