Water and Wastewater Rate Advisory Committee Meets November 16

Community members are encouraged to attend the third meeting of Ventura Water’s Rate Advisory Committee, which will focus on the preliminary financial plans to support the water and wastewater operations and capital programs in the future.  The meeting will begin at 6 pm on November 16 at the Ventura Sanjon Maintenance Yard - Assembly Room, 336 Sanjon Road.

A nine-member committee of Ventura residents is providing input on a new study of water and wastewater rate options and operational costs.  Public meetings running through January 2012 are giving residents the opportunity to participate in this process and to review the costs associated with protecting our environment and maintaining our water and wastewater systems.

The study is being conducted by Raftelis Financial Consultants, a leader in the utility rate industry.  In addition to the financial plans, Raftelis will present the results from the committee’s pricing objectives workshop conducted at the October12 meeting.  Future meetings are tentatively scheduled for December 14 and January 18 at the same time and location.

Ventura Water’s last formal cost-of-service study was conducted in the early 1990s during the drought and established the current tiered rate structure.  For more information about the project and its progress, visit www.cityofventura.net/water/resources.

Ventura Water provides integrated water, wastewater and stormwater services to 109,000+ customers with 32,000 service connections. Ventura’s drinking water sources are all local and its reclamation facility treats more than nine million gallons from homes and businesses daily.
