Ventura Water and Wastewater Rate Advisory Committee Meets December 14
Community members are encouraged to attend the next meeting of Ventura Water’s Rate Advisory Committee, which continues to review the long-term financial plans for Ventura’s water and wastewater operations and systems. Also on the agenda will be an educational session about how different rate structure options can impact costs for various customer classes, such as residential and commercial groups. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on December 14 at the Ventura Sanjon Maintenance Yard - Assembly Room, 336 Sanjon Road.
A nine-member committee of Ventura residents has been working since October to provide input during a new study of water and wastewater rate options and operational costs.
“Through drought or tight economy, we rely on quality water to continue flowing to our homes and businesses,” said Clint Crowell, a Sustainability Consultant and Committee member. “How we pay for it going forward is what’s at stake and we, as customers, have the chance to hear the options and let the City Council know what’s important to us.”
These public meetings, running through early next year, offer all residents an opportunity to participate in the process and to learn more about the costs associated with protecting our environment and maintaining Ventura’s vital water and wastewater systems. The cost of service study is being performed by Raftelis Financial Consultants, a leader in the utility rate industry. The next Committee meeting is scheduled for January 18 at the same time and location. For more information about the project and its progress, visit www.cityofventura.net/water/resources.
