Ventura to celebrate Earth Day with weekend events - Beach Cleanup, Eco Festival and Home & Garden Tour/Expo - Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19

Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering for our city's annual Beach Cleanup on Saturday, April 18, 9a.m. to 11a.m., at Surfers' Point (west end of the Ventura Beach Pier Promenade.)

Invite your coworkers, family, friends and neighbors; community groups, students and all ages are welcome. Community service hours are available. Beach Cleanup is a great and easy way to get the whole family involved in improving our environment!

Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Children are encouraged to bring sand sifters. Pre-registration is not required for individuals or groups with less than 20 people. Groups of 20 or more are encouraged to pre-register with the city program Volunteer Ventura!

After the Beach Cleanup, come to the free, family-friendly Eco Festival 11a.m. to 7p.m. at Promenade Park next to Surfers' Point. Enjoy live music and entertainment, children's activities, food booths, raffle prizes and a free Composting Workshop at 2p.m. hosted by the City of Ventura's Environmental Services Office.

On Sunday, April 19, 11a.m. to 4p.m. visit the Midtown Green Home & Garden Tour and Expo, at the corner of Sanjon Road and Thompson Blvd. featuring home and garden design professionals, services and merchandise including the California Native Plant Society's Spring Plant Sale. Take the self-guided Midtown Home & Garden Tour ($10 tickets on sale at the Expo) to see local homes and gardens practicing sustainability.
