Ventura City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire. There were multiple citizen reports and smoke was visible for several miles. Upon arrival of the first engine, heavy smoke and flames were issuing from a multi-level, multi-unit property.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack on the involved structure, stopping the forward progress and extension of the fire into the adjacent units.

A separate property next door to the fire was threatened by the flames. Crews deployed hose lines to protect the adjacent structure and a valuable antique vehicle. One other vehicle sustained heat damage at that property.

Red Cross supplied emergency assistance for a displaced family of four. The cause of this fire is under investigation.

Ventura Police Department responded and conducted scene, traffic and crowd control.
