Report#: 10-9793
Narrative:
A Ventura police officer on patrol saw a white GMC truck near Petit and Telephone and initiated a stop for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The pursuit covered a distance of approximately three miles through many residential neighborhoods from Petit to Montgomery and south to Neath. Speeds in the pursuit ranged from approx 60-80 mph. As the driver approached the residential area near Cardigan St. the driver increased his speed in excess of 80 mph. The pursuit was discontinued because of the danger the suspect’s reckless driving posed to the public.
Approximately three minutes later the truck was found unoccupied near Nevin and Neath St. Patrol officers located Weinhardt walking nearby and determined he was the driver of the truck. Weinhardt was arrested and booked at Ventura County Jail for felony evading, reckless driving and conspiracy.
During the investigation it was determined that the registered owner, Martinez, was also a passenger in the vehicle and purposely lied to investigators about his involvement. He was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Jail for obstructing the investigation and conspiracy.
