Report #:11-5294,11-5295, 11-5296

Narrative:

On the above date and time the suspect, Singh, was driving westbound on Telegraph Rd. in a full size Hummer vehicle.  Two bicyclists, a mother and 13-year-old daughter, were riding front and back of one another.  The suspect drove by and struck them and continued driving.  The mother and daughter sustained injuries including broken bones.  This incident occurred at Telegraph Rd at La Hoya.

The suspect then continued westbound on Telegraph Rd.  He approached Petit Ave, and struck a pickup truck that was stopped for a red light in the left turn lane.  He struck the rear of the pickup and continued driving westbound from the area.  The pickup had a husband and wife and 16-year-old son.  Each received minor complaint of pain injuries.

The suspect then kept driving westbound on Telegraph Rd.  Near the intersection of Telegraph and Mara, the victim was riding his bike in the bike lane with a friend.  The suspect hit the victim and drove away.  The victim died at the scene.  The friend was not struck or injured.

A witness saw this incident and called 911.  The witness followed the suspect and gave 911 directions to his location.  The suspect drove to 146 Kennedy and parked in the driveway.  Officers were on scene within 30 seconds of him arriving in the driveway.  The suspect was seated in the vehicle when officers arrived.  The suspect was uncooperative and would not exit the car.  The damage to the vehicle prevented him from getting out from the drivers side.  Officers were on scene for about 20 minutes attempting to get the suspect to comply with commands to get out of the vehicle.

Eventually officers were able to open the rear hatch and used a police K9 to distract the suspect while officers were able to get into the car from the back doors.  The suspect was taken into custody.

He was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries from the traffic collision.

The investigation is ongoing.  The suspect is currently under arrest for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated, Felony Hit and Run, and Felony D.U.I.
