Report #: 12-615
Narrative:
On the above date and time a VPD Patrol Officer saw a vehicle southbound on the 101 freeway and completed a traffic stop for Vehicle Code violations. Upon stopping, the passenger in the right rear of the vehicle, later identified as Contreras, fled on foot down the Johnson Dr off ramp. Based upon the circumstances a high risk stop was initiated and three additional people (two females and one male) were removed from the car. A search of the vehicle revealed a sawed off shotgun in the right rear floorboard of the vehicle.
A Patrol Officer responding to the scene saw Contreras fleeing on foot into the yard of Tuff Shed, a business in the 3300 block of Ventura Rd. near the Johnson Dr. off ramp. Contreras was found hiding in a shed on the property and began fighting with the officers attempting to arrest him.
Contreras was ultimately arrested and treated at Ventura County Medical Center for minor injuries. Contreras was booked at VCJ for being an ex- felon in possession of a sawed off shotgun, resisting arrest and being a member of a criminal street gang involved in criminal gang activity.
Lemos was found to be in possession of a strap-like device concealed under his clothing that attaches to the shotgun and allows hands free concealment. Lemos, currently on parole, was arrested and booked at VCJ for being a felon in possession of a sawed off shotgun and being a member of a criminal street gang involved in criminal gang activity.
Both females were interviewed and released at the scene.
