Applicants sought for City of Ventura ADA Access Citizen Advisory Ad Hoc Committee

The City of Ventura is accepting applications from citizens living or working in Ventura who are interested in serving as a volunteer member on the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Access Citizen Advisory Ad Hoc Committee. Applicants must be willing to serve approximately five months as volunteer consultants by reviewing the City’s Draft ADA Compliance Plan, providing advice to staff, and making recommendations to staff on the Plan.

The goal of the ADA Compliance Plan is to make Ventura’s public places accessible to persons with disabilities in order that they might continue to engage in the City’s civic life. It is intended to build on previous efforts to improve accessibility and to monitor the City’s progress in providing reasonable accommodations so everyone has access to City services, jobs, and facilities.

ADA Access Citizen Advisory Ad Hoc Committee membership is open to all community members, and interested participants are encouraged to apply. Information and applications are available by contacting the City Manager’s Office at (805) 654-7740.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, September 2, 2011 before 5:30pm. Applications may be submitted in person to the City Manager’s Office, Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli Street - Room 205, or by mail to Ventura City Manager’s Office, P. O. Box 99, Ventura CA 93002-0099.
