Water Exercise Instructors
Mary Lincoln - I have been in the fitness field for over 30 years, specializing in water exercise and yoga. I am certified in American Red Cross C.P.R. and First Aid and am a Water Safety Instructor. I am also certified in personal training and weights, Resist A Ball module 1 and 11, and water exercise through Aquatic Exercise Association. I do personal training and work with children and adults who have special needs such as Autism, Down syndrome, and arthritis. It is my passion to help others succeed in their weight loss and fitness goals.
Debbie Bergevin - Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor certified and American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certified. Kick those legs higher! Give me some WHITE WATER! The benefits of exercising in the water include less stress on the joints, burning more calories from the resistance of working out in the water, and great cross training combined with other types of workouts (running, spinning, etc). In 2006, I became interested in teaching water exercise classes after retiring from a full time job at the County of Ventura. So, I became a certified instructor through the Aquatic Exercise Association and now teach water exercise classes at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Our participants get a great workout and have lots of fun in the water. I look forward to introducing more people to the benefits of exercising in the beautiful pools at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Come join us!
Shelly Barnard - Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor (AEA), Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program Instructor (AFAP), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), First Aide, and CPR certified. I have been a lifelong fitness buff, interested in helping and keeping people of all ages moving well into their golden years! My love of water started in my teens as a swim instructor and lifeguard for the City of Ventura summer programs and Ventura College. After raising my two boys, I decided to go back to the water. I earned my certifications for both comp and therapy pools. While I love the workout deep water can provide, the calories burned in both deep and shallow water will keep those interested in losing weight or just maintaining strong, healthy muscle mass at the top of their game. I look forward to meeting old friends and new while doing a fabulous and fun total body workout... all in the water! Join us anytime!
Kayann Stables - Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor (AEA) certified and American Red Cross CPR/AED certified. New to the fitness field as an instructor, I loved water exercise from the first time I participated in a class. I have loved being in the water for as long as I can remember, and now being able to have fun AND exercise at the same time is a dream come true. My previous careers have included being a teacher as well as spending 30 years working in the animal health industry. My goal is for participants to leave class feeling like they received and enjoyed a good workout. The Ventura Aquatic Center is a beautiful setting where people of all ages and abilities can exercise. I hope you’ll give it a try - I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
