Parking Permits

Downtown Parking Permits

As a resident of the downtown you may be eligible to receive a parking permit. The City’s Downtown Parking Permit Program provides all day parking for downtown residents. By displaying a valid parking permit on your car, you can park all day without the worry of getting a parking ticket or moving your car from space to space on your block near your home.

Who may receive a Downtown – “R” residential parking permit?

Residents within the Downtown Parking District on those streets where a time limit or paid parking restriction is posted may receive a preferential residential parking permit based upon the number of available off-street parking spaces that the residence has available. Which will include the number of garages, parking spaces, driveway spaces, covered parking, etc. If your area currently does not have any parking restrictions but becomes impacted due to the shift in parking your area may qualify for restricted parking. This would mean that you may be eligible for a parking permit with the same conditions.

The general rule is that no more than one permit per residential unit will be issued, and the permittee is restricted to the same block & street, Parking structure or parking lot shown on the hang tag.  In the case of Summerset Apartments residents may purchase a permit to park in the parking structure but are limited to the top floor only and no on-street parking.  Permits are not valid for metered areas that are not within the same block and street that is assigned.

School and Medical District Parking Permits

The City of Ventura has installed timed parking in areas around Ventura’s high schools, colleges, and medical facilities. As a resident of these areas you may be eligible to receive or may currently have a parking permit.  The City’s School Area and Medical District Parking Permit Program provides all day parking for residents in those areas. By displaying a valid parking permit on your car, you can park all day without the worry of getting a parking ticket.

Who may receive a School Area – “S” or Medical District – “M” residential parking permit?

Residents around high schools, colleges, medical facilities and on streets where time limit restrictions are posted may receive a preferential residential parking permit.

The general rule is that no more than three permits will be issued per residential parcel.  Multiple vehicles may be assigned to one hang tag permit so that it may be shared with other vehicles at the residence.
