Animal Control Services 

The Ventura Police Department contracts with the Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) for many non-emergency related animal concerns and animal control services. 

During business hours, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) should be contacted for, and is the primary agency to respond to, calls related to:

  • Leash Law Violations
  • Injured animals
  • Dead animals
  • Stray Animals
  • Confined Animals
  • Aggressive Animals
  • Barking Dog Complaints

The Ventura Police Department will respond to:

  • Emergency calls for service
  • Calls in which there is an injured animal or person, and/or where the incident may result in criminal charges, or there is a public safety concern.
