All interested parties are cordially invited to join us for a review of the final draft Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance prior to its presentation to City Council on March 12, 2012.

Date: Wednesday, February 22

Time:  6 -7 pm

Community Meeting Room at City Hall

Purpose of the Workshop
The purpose of the workshop is to inform any affected stakeholders of the Ordinance and its possible consequences for businesses.

Who Should Attend?
Any landscape contractor, architect, designer, installer and or maintenance company that deals with the design, construction, operations and maintenance of landscapes within the City of Ventura.  Additionally, any property that contains a landscaped area of one acre or greater in size or anyone considering renovation work that is 2,500 square feet or greater that may trigger the MWELO should also considering attending.

How the MWELO may affect you and your business?
The MWELO is required by State law.  However, cities were allowed to develop an ordinance that met local conditions as long as it remains “as least effective as” the proposed state ordinance.  Ventura's draft Ordinance follows the State’s recommendations but adds a ‘prescriptive approach’ intended to allow for more flexibility in the implementation of the ordinance.
