Volleyball League Fees & Offerings

The City of Ventura offers 10-week Indoor Coed Volleyball leagues in the summer for $250 per team plus $10 per game for officials.

Volleyball League Format

The City of Ventura's leagues currently utilize a round robin. Teams will play games on Wednesday nights for 7 weeks, and continue league play with a post season single elimination tournament to determine an overall champion in each division.

Volleyball League Schedules

Schedules will be available for pickup at mandatory managers meetings. Information relating to how the league will be administered, upcoming events, field maintenance reports, and rule changes are discussed at the meeting. In the event the manager of the team cannot attend he/she is required to send a representative of the team to the meeting.

Official Volleyball Rules

The rules and conditions of the City of Ventura Adult Volleyball program will follow C.I.F. and USA rules with the following conditions:

1. Games will be 1 hour in length. Teams must pay league official $10 before the start of the match. Teams shall consist of three men and three women, however a game may be played with 4 players (2 & 2), without forfeit.
2. A match will consist of best two out of three games to 25 points, rally scoring. If the match is tied after 2 games, a third game will be played using a rally-point format to 15 points. In rally-point scoring, teams can score a point every time the ball is served, by either team.
3. Players will be allowed to enter the games on a side-out. The right front player will rotate out and the new player will come into the serving position.
4. A ball is dead, if on a serve it hits a wall, ceiling, basket, or other obstruction. A ball other than on a serve that hits an overhead obstruction may be kept in play by the offending team.
5. An alternating lineup must be used. If there are more women than men on the court, women may lineup side by side. Women must comprise at least half of the players on the court at all times. A woman must handle the ball each time across the net when more than one hit is made.
6. As per USA Rules, the ball may be contacted with any part of the body and kept in play.
7. Rosters must be signed by players before league play begins. Players may be added to the roster the first two weeks of the season with approval from the League Director.
8. Forfeiting teams are required to pay the entire amount owed to the official before their next match.
