Community Development - Planning Division
The Planning Division is part of the Community Development Department responsible for creating goals and policies for sustainable future development in the City and ensuring that all proposed and current development complies with those goals. Planning staff provides services and conduct activities which guide the City's orderly development by applying the current zoning codes, facilitating development, implementing community plans, and preserving historic resources. The three sections within the Planning Division are: Advanced Planning, Current Planning, and Land Development Engineering.
Smart Growth
Is an urban planning and transportation Theory that concentrates growth in the Center of a city to avoid urban sprawl; and Advocates compact, transit-oriented, walkable, bicycle friendly land use, Including mixed-use development.
