City Clerk
The City Clerk's Office works with the City Council, City Manager, departments and divisions, and the public. The Department is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the agenda and minutes for the City Council and Redevelopment Agency, managing the City Council's official records, providing access to public records and information, processing documents to carry out the legislative actions of the City Council, administering the City's elections, assisting in the recruitment of residents to serve on various City Council advisory boards, commissions, and committees, and receiving liability claims.

Elaine M. Preston serves as the Interim City Clerk, and is responsible for the administration and management of the City Clerk’s Division. Preston has served in the Ventura City Clerk’s Office since January 2001 and has 6 years experience as Deputy City Clerk. She possesses the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC). Preston also has 12 years administrative experience with the City of Lompoc’s Public Works Department. Additionally, Preston brings private sector experience in office administration.
