Christy Weir was first elected to the Ventura City Council in 2003, and was selected in December 2005 to serve as Deputy Mayor for a two-year term. She was re-elected to the Council in 2007, at which time her fellow councilmembers selected her as Mayor.

In her professional life, Christy has been a Managing Editor at Gospel Light Publications from 1985 through 1999, and is currently a freelance editor and writer.

In 1986, Christy received an “Outstanding Young Women of America” Award. She was the founding president of a Chapter of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), and recently received much recognition in the community as the founder of the Grant Park Conservancy.
