Councilmember

Ed Summers was elected to the City Council in November 2005.

In his professional life, Ed is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for Affinity Bank headquartered in downtown Ventura. He has held various positions in banking for the past 22 years including seven years as the Regional Commercial Banking Manager for Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties at Bank of America. Prior to banking, Ed worked in the area of academic development for the University of Southern California and Claremont University Center.

Ed holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from USC and has a MBA from the Drucker Center at the Claremont Graduate School.

Ed is single and has lived in Ventura for the past 16 years. Ed is active in the community and for the past five years has been the Chair of the Cultural Affairs Commission, on which he has served for nine years. He is currently a member of the Ventura Education Partnership. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Community Access Partners San Buenaventura (CAPS), and as a member of the Board of the Grant Park Conservancy. For the past 12 years, he has served as a Director of the Ventura County Economic Development Association and was Chair of the organization for three years. Ed was co-chair of the Ventura County BRAC Task Force, past President and Director of the Ventura Music Festival, a former Trustee of the California Business Week Foundation, past Director of the Ventura Visitors’ and Convention Bureau, and has served as a member of the Planning Committee for the Ventura County Chapter of the American Heart Association annual Walk for Life.
