The Building and Safety division oversees all phases of new building construction, perform a variety of inspections and provide code enforcement. The head of the division is the Building Official. Their offices are located within City Hall.
Building & Safety provides:
- Building permit plan check
- Permits issuance
- Building and Safety for new buildings, additions, tenant improvements, etc.
- Code Enforcement to support the enforcement of policies and programs within the Public Works, Community Development, Fire and Finance and Technology Departments.
Additionally, Building and Safety maintains a historical permit and plan archive of over 1 million construction documents. This section enforces the California Construction Codes as amended by the City during adoption.
