Free Lighting Upgrades for Small Businesses Now Available!!

Southern California Edison (SCE) is offering their 2017 Direct Install program to Ventura businesses from March 20th to April 7th. Through the Direct Install program, SCE sends trained energy-efficiency contractors to help small businesses identify ways to save energy through lighting upgrades while improving light quality and helping businesses thrive.

A FREE Direct Install energy consultation takes 5 to 10 minutes, and if you wish to implement the recommended improvements the expert can help you complete an authorization and schedule an installation appointment. Installation is FREE too.

You heard that right: FREE LIGHTING UPGRADES!!! Environmental Excellence Award

A recognition of businesses that go beyond day-to-day practices to protect the environment.

Every year, the City of Ventura Environmental Sustainability Division works with the Ventura Chamber of Commerce to identify a business that is integrating environmental concerns into their business practices and philosophy.

Need Help Getting Your Business to "Go Green?"

The Environmental Sustainability Office offers FREE on-site visits to ALL businesses within the City of Ventura.


This visit includes a preliminary waste characterization, which often leads to easily implemented steps to enhance your new or existing recycling and/or waste reduction program. (Unicycle & Regular Trash Recycling)

The Environmental Services staff will also provide suggestions for increasing employee participation, collection strategies, janitorial in-services, energy conservation tips, composting, and MORE.

Become a Certified Green Business in the City of Ventura - It's FREE

Green Business is Smart Business.  Get Local and Statewide Recognition For Your Business When You Become A Certified California Green Business.

It’s become even easier for local businesses to be green.  The City of Ventura’s Environmental Sustainability division is working with a new government statewide program along with the Department of Toxic Substance Control (@ that walks local businesses through a FREE green business certification process.  FIND OUT THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A CERTIFIED GREEN BUSINESS.  CLICK HERE OR THE IMAGE BELOW TO VIEW VIDEO.


The certification program encourages businesses help protect the environment with:

  • Proven recycling
  • Water conservation
  • Renewable energy practices

To assist businesses through the certification process at no-cost, City of Ventura Environmental Specialist, Lars Davenport, will meet you at your place of business and walk you through the registration process as well as discuss steps that need to be taken for certification qualification. Once a business becomes certified, a certification logo will be presented to you to display in-store, online and in your PR and marketing materials.  Newly certified businesses  will also be entered into a statewide database with other certified green businesses.
