Most classes are open to adults 18 years and up and a few focus on adults 50 years and up.

Free Tax Preparation By AARP: February 7-April 13, 2017

For over a decade, the City of Ventura has partnered with trained volunteers from AARP to offer low-income individuals of all ages and adults 50+ (of any income level) free assistance filing their federal and state tax returns.

Tax preparation will be held at the Ventura Avenue Adult Center (550 N. Ventura Ave) Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 p.m. starting February 7 to April 13. Ventura Council for Seniors (VCS)

You are invited to participate in the Ventura Council for Seniors meetings held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. 9:30-11:00 am (click on image to the right for meeting dates and locations, no meeting in December). Formed in 1975, VCS is designated by the Ventura City Council as the representative organization of all seniors (50 and over) in the City of Ventura. VCS Brochure

2017 Meeting Schedule will alternate between the Ventura Avenue Adult Center (VAAC, 550 N. Ventura Ave, Ventura, 93001) and Silvercrest Senior Residence (750 S. Petit Ave, Ventura, 93004)


Ventura Senior Nutrition Programs

Westside Café & Eastside Café: Join us Monday through Friday, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, for the friendliest lunch hour in Ventura with a meal that includes a nutritious hot entrée, salad, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The suggested donation is $3 per meal for those 60 years and over and the price is $5 for those under 60.

  • Eastside Cafe: Silvercrest Senior Residence, 750 S. Petit Ave, Ventura

The Home Delivered Meals Program is designed for homebound individuals 60 years and up who live in Ventura. For more information call 648-3035.

Facility Rental Information

The facility was transformed in 2014 with new landscaping, murals and secure parking outside and new floors, furniture, art and technology inside. The center is an ideal space for business and non-profit special events/meetings, birthdays, quinceañeras or other family events.
