Mayor Cheryl Heitmann

Cheryl Heitmann was first elected to the Ventura City Council in November 2011. She was appointed to the role of Mayor by her colleagues in December 2013, and served as Deputy Mayor for the first two years of her four-year term.

Cheryl Heitmann served as the Executive Director of the Ventura Music Festival from 2006-2012. She is a licensed clinical social worker and had a private practice for 18 years.

Ms. Heitmann served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Community College District for 8 years, 2 terms as President of the Board. She is currently a board member on the Ventura Visitors and Convention Bureau, Downtown Ventura Organization, and City liaison to the Ventura Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. She is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Ventura and the Pierpont Community Council. In addition, Heitmann serves as a board member on the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, is the alternate member to the VC Air Pollution Control Board, and is a former board member of the Ventura County Mental Health Board and United Way Ventura County.

Her work has led to numerous honors: Top 50 Women in Business (Pacific Coast Business Times), 2008; Top Non-profit Leaders, Pacific Coast Business Times, 2010; outstanding Citizen Gold Award from the California Teachers’ Association; the Communication and Leadership Award from Toastmasters International, District #33, among others.

Ms. Heitmann is married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
